FAQ

Stelllink is a workspace that brings scattered digital resources, such as web pages, files, documents, and images, into one place so you can collect, organize, explore, and share them. It goes beyond a place to store files, connecting everything from the moment you collect something to the moment you find it again and pass it on.

You organize what you collect into Spaces, Clusters, and Items, and find it again quickly with Path Finder whenever you need it. Every Item you save gets a short link, so Stelllink works just as well as a personal research space as it does as a shared space for your team.

Stelllink is available as a desktop app for Windows and macOS, a mobile app for Android and iOS, and a web version. Sign in with the same account and you can pick up the same Spaces and resources anywhere, so something you saved on your office computer is ready to open on your phone while you’re on the go.

You can also install Web Clipper in the web browser you use on your computer. It lets you save the page you’re viewing and share it as a short link without opening the app. You’ll find the app download links on the Getting Started page.

Section titled “How is Stelllink different from similar services?”

Bookmark tools handle only links, document tools handle only documents, and cloud drives handle only files. Stelllink connects the entire flow of collecting, organizing, finding, and sharing all of these resources in one place.

  • Everything in one place: Save Web-Links, files, folders, and pages side by side in the same Cluster, so your references and working documents stay in the same context.
  • Easy from the moment you collect: Save pages straight from the web with Rocket Browser and Web Clipper, or just paste a copied URL or file to save it.
  • Search that works even when you forget where: Path Finder searches every Space from just part of a title and shows where each result is saved.
  • Ready to share as soon as you save: Every Item gets a short link automatically, and with QR codes and Link Tracker you can even see how people respond after you share.
  • From solo to team, naturally: Invite members to a Space and work together on the same resources with real-time cursor sharing.
  • The same space on every device: Pick up the same resources from the desktop app, the mobile app, the web version, or Web Clipper.

The Home screen is the first thing you see when you open the app. It shows your recently used Items, favorites, and Spaces at a glance, making it easy to pick up yesterday’s work or jump straight to the resources you open most.

You can also search every Space right from the Home screen with Path Finder. Even if you can’t remember which Space or Cluster something is in, type part of its title to see the results along with where they’re saved, and open them right away.

You can sign in to Stelllink with a Google account, an Apple account, or an email address and verification code. When you sign in with a Google or Apple account, you don’t need to create a separate password for Stelllink. With no password to manage, there’s also less to worry about leaking, which makes it more secure.

Choose a sign-in method on the sign-in screen and follow the instructions to verify. Once you’re signed in, you’ll go straight to the Home screen, where you can create a Space and start saving.

Can I be signed in on multiple devices at once?

Section titled “Can I be signed in on multiple devices at once?”

Yes. You can be signed in to the desktop app, the mobile app, and the web version at the same time with the same account. Whatever you save or organize on any device ends up in the same Spaces, so you can switch devices and carry on where you left off.

Web Clipper uses the Stelllink account you’re signed in to in the same browser. If you’re signed in to Stelllink web in that browser, you can use Web Clipper right away without signing in again.

No. Go to the web version and you can use Stelllink right away without installing anything. Even where installing apps is difficult, such as on a work or shared computer, all you need is a browser to reach the same resources.

Some features, such as Rocket Browser, are only available in the desktop and mobile apps. If you use Stelllink often, install the app to get every feature. You’ll find the download links on the Getting Started page.

Stelllink organizes resources in a three-level structure: Space → Cluster → Item. Topic-based drives sit inside a larger workspace, and your actual resources go inside those drives, so it’s easy to tell what’s where even as your collection grows.

  • Space: The largest workspace, holding multiple Clusters. Create one per project, team, or topic, and share it with others.
  • Cluster: A drive inside a Space where you store files, folders, and other Items. Create them for specific purposes and group resources by topic.
  • Item: The actual resource saved in a Cluster: a file, folder, page, or Web-Link.

For example, under a Product Revamp Space you could keep References, Planning, and Shared Materials Clusters to divide your resources. For more details, see the Getting Started page.

The number of shared Spaces and Clusters you can create depends on your plan. On the Free plan, you can create 1 shared Space and up to 3 Clusters per Space, while the Pro plan ($10/month) lets you create unlimited shared Spaces and Clusters. Every account has one Private space regardless of plan, and you can join as many shared Spaces created by others as you like.

Start on the Free plan by keeping your personal and team resources in one Space each, then upgrade to Pro and add more Spaces as your projects and teams grow. For details on each plan, see Compare plans.

You can save four kinds of resources as Items in Stelllink. Different kinds of resources can sit side by side in the same Cluster, so your references and working documents stay in the same context.

  • File: Documents, images, PDFs, and other resources on your device
  • Folder: The basic unit for keeping and sorting resources
  • Page: A working document you create right in Stelllink, such as Google Workspace documents like Google Docs and Google Sheets, or offline documents like Word, Excel, and Hangul files
  • Web-Link: A shortcut based on a web page’s URL

Every Item you save shows up in Path Finder search regardless of its kind, and can be shared right away with a short link. Instead of switching apps for each kind of resource, you can collect, find, and share everything in Stelllink.

You can work with files and folders just as you do on Windows or macOS. Open the Cluster or folder you want to save to, then upload in whichever way suits you.

  • Drag & drop files onto the screen to upload them right away.
  • Click Upload files on the New Page screen, or press Ctrl + UCmd + U, to choose files to upload.
  • Paste files copied in File Explorer or Finder, or screenshots, with Ctrl + VCmd + V.

You can preview uploaded files and check their details right away in the preview panel on the right side of Space Browser. Every file also gets its own short link, so you can share it by sending a link instead of an email attachment.

A Web-Link is a shortcut to a page on the internet. Like a file, you can save it in any Cluster or folder and find and open it quickly. Use whichever of these three methods fits the situation.

  • Paste a URL: Copy the address in your browser, open the location in Stelllink where you want to save it, and paste with Ctrl + VCmd + V.
  • Rocket Browser: While browsing in the app’s built-in browser, click Save this link or press Ctrl + Shift + SCmd + Shift + S.
  • Web Clipper: Save the page you’re viewing in your usual browser and create a short link in one go.

Rather than trying to sort everything perfectly from the start, we recommend saving quickly first and organizing into Clusters and folders later. Even before you organize, you can always find things again with Path Finder.

Yes. Deleted Items don’t disappear right away. They’re kept in the Trash for up to 30 days, and you can restore them from there at any time during that period. If you deleted something by mistake, check the Trash first.

An Item’s History shows who created, moved, or renamed it and when. Note that Items deleted in Web Clipper or in Web Clipper in the app skip the Trash and are permanently deleted right away, so they can’t be restored.

Start with the web pages you revisit often, documents for projects in progress, and files you refer to regularly. The more you used to hop between browser tabs and folders to find something, the sooner you’ll feel the difference once it’s all in one place.

Rather than trying to organize everything perfectly from the start, get used to the flow of collecting resources and finding them again with Path Finder. As you go, the Space and Cluster structure you need will start to take shape naturally.

An Offline space connects a folder on this device as a Space, so you can work with the files in it right from Stelllink. Folders directly inside the connected folder appear as Clusters, and the files and folders inside them appear as Items.

Unlike Private and shared Spaces, your resources are stored in the folder on this device instead of on a server, and everything you do in Stelllink is applied to the actual folders and files right away. Offline spaces are available in the Windows, Mac, iPhone, and Android apps, but not in the web version. For details, see the Offline Spaces page.

Can I use it without an internet connection?

Section titled “Can I use it without an internet connection?”

Your resources are stored on this device, but you need an internet connection to open the app and sign in. Once the app is open, you can keep opening, creating, and organizing files in Offline spaces even if the connection drops.

Anything that goes through the server, such as moving Items to your Private or a shared Space, can be done once you’re back online.

Section titled “Can I share Items in an Offline space or create short links for them?”

Move an Item to your Private space or a shared Space, and you can use every Stelllink feature with it, including sharing, short links, QR codes, and Link Tracker.

Select the Item and click Start under Use all features in the preview panel to choose where to move it right away. If you move it by drag & drop or pasting, the original file stays on this device. For details, see Moving Items to online Spaces.

Do other accounts on the same device see my Offline spaces?

Section titled “Do other accounts on the same device see my Offline spaces?”

Yes. Offline spaces appear for every account signed in on this device, regardless of the account, and anyone can use them. If several people share one device, choose the folders you connect with care.

Click Hide in Preferences > Offline space to hide a Space from the sidebar. The hidden state is saved in the folder, so it doesn’t apply to your account alone; it applies to every account on this device and to other devices that connect the same folder.

Files I put in the folder don’t show up in the Offline space.

Section titled “Files I put in the folder don’t show up in the Offline space.”

Files placed directly in the folder you connected as a Space aren’t shown. Put files inside a folder that serves as a Cluster.

Files used by the operating system and other apps aren’t shown either, such as files whose names start with a dot (.), desktop.ini, .DS_Store, and temporary files starting with ~$.

I see “This location can’t be added as a space.”

Section titled “I see “This location can’t be added as a space.””

Folders that are too broad or important can’t be connected, such as the top folder of a drive, your user home folder, system folders, and app data folders. Create a folder inside one of them to hold your resources, and connect that folder instead.

You also can’t connect a folder above or below a Space you’ve already connected. To connect it, disconnect the existing Space first.

If I remove an Offline space, are the files deleted too?

Section titled “If I remove an Offline space, are the files deleted too?”

Choose Remove space in Preferences > Offline space to pick one of two options.

  • Disconnect: The Space disappears from Stelllink only, and the folder and files on this device stay. If you connect the same folder again, its Cluster order and archive state come back too.
  • Delete permanently: The folder on this device and every file in it are deleted from the disk right away and can’t be recovered.

The trash in an Offline space isn’t emptied automatically, so Items you’ve moved to the trash can be restored at any time until you empty it yourself. For details, see Remove a Space.

Do Offline spaces use Google Drive storage?

Section titled “Do Offline spaces use Google Drive storage?”

No. Resources in an Offline space are stored only on this device’s disk, so they don’t use Google Drive storage. Only Items you move to your Private or a shared Space are stored in Google Drive.

To see how much space Offline spaces take up on this device, check Storage usage in Preferences > Offline space.

Yes. Select an Item in Space Browser to see a preview of the file or Web-Link right away in the preview panel on the right. Skip the routine of opening and closing Items one by one, and skim through many resources quickly to pick the ones you need.

The preview panel also shows details such as the original URL, the Space and Cluster, and the modified date. You can carry on in the same panel to rename the Item, copy its short link, or create a QR code.

Preview Browser is a dedicated viewer that opens image, PDF, audio, and video files at full size inside the app. Open one of these files in Space Browser, or choose Preview from the Item menu, to see its contents right away without launching another program.

Move through the files in the same folder with the Previous and Next buttons or the arrow keys, or open the List to jump straight to the file you want. You can turn pages and zoom in and out on PDFs. In the mobile app, Preview Browser opens images and PDFs.

Can I open the resources I use most more quickly?

Section titled “Can I open the resources I use most more quickly?”

Pin the Items you use often to your favorites and you can reopen them quickly from anywhere. Right-click an Item, choose Add to favorites, and pick the group to save it to. You can also split your favorites into groups by topic.

Open your pinned favorites right from the Home screen, or from My favorites in Space Browser and Rocket Browser. Start by pinning the resources you reach for most, like a dashboard you open every day or a document you keep referring to.

The Temporary space is where Web-Links without a set location gather for a while. Even links you can’t place right away can be collected there first, then moved to where they belong all at once when you have time to organize.

You can move Web-Links in the Temporary space to any location at any time. Drag an Item onto the Cluster or folder you want, or click Move this item to current cluster/folder. You can also select several Items to move or delete them at once.

Path Finder is a search tool that helps you easily find every Item in your account. Search just your current location or across every Space, and find files, folders, and Web-Links all at once.

Each result shows its name along with where it’s saved, so you can open the Item right away or go to its location. Since you can find things from just part of a title, you can focus on “What am I looking for?” instead of “Where did I save it?” In Space Browser, press Ctrl + FCmd + F to open it right away.

Click the Browser button in the top right of Space Browser, or press Ctrl + Shift + BCmd + Shift + B, to open Rocket Browser. You can search and browse the web in one window and save a page to Stelllink the moment you find it.

Rocket Browser is only available in the desktop and mobile apps, not in the web version. To save pages from the web version or your usual browser, try Web Clipper.

Section titled “Where do Web-Links saved in Rocket Browser go?”

Click Save this link on the page you’re viewing in Rocket Browser, and the Web-Link is saved to the Temporary space. There’s no need to stop browsing to choose a location, so you can keep collecting pages as you find them.

Move Web-Links from the Temporary space by dragging them onto the Cluster or folder you want, or by clicking Move this item to current cluster/folder. For research and other times you collect many pages in a row, gather them first and organize them all at once to keep your flow going. For more details, see the Rocket Browser page.

In a shared Space, go to Manage members, click Invite, and search for a user or enter their email address. Once they accept the invitation, they become a member of the Space. Private Spaces and private Clusters can’t be shared, so share the Items in them directly instead.

For members to see resources together, you also need to invite Space members to the shared Cluster. An Admin can rename the Space, invite members, and create Clusters, while a Member can use the Clusters they’ve been added to, and the Items in them, according to the Cluster’s permissions.

Yes. Select the Item, click Sharing preferences under Flash Share in the preview panel, turn on Share with people, and add the people you want with Invite. Sharing starts as soon as they accept, and removing someone from the list takes away their access immediately.

People outside the Space who are shared individual Items this way appear as Guests. Guests can’t access the Space or its Clusters, only the Items shared with them, and you can remove all of a Space’s sharing at once in Manage guests.

Section titled “Can I share with people who don’t use Stelllink?”

Yes. Turn on Share to web in an Item’s Sharing preferences, and anyone can open the Item with its short link, even without a Stelllink account. This is handy when you’re sending resources to people who don’t use Stelllink, such as outside partners or clients.

Since anyone with the link can open it, you can set a Password for important resources so the short link asks for it. When you no longer need to share, turn off Share to web to block access through the link at any time.

Open Space is where shortcuts to folders that other people have shared to the web are kept, and you’ll find it in the sidebar. Open a web-shared folder with its short link and choose Open in Stelllink Browser from the menu, and a shortcut to that folder is saved to Open Space and opens right in Stelllink.

Once it’s saved, you can reopen the folder from the sidebar at any time without hunting for the shared link again. Clear out shortcuts you no longer need all at once with Delete all aliases in Open Space.

Can I collaborate in real time in a shared Space?

Section titled “Can I collaborate in real time in a shared Space?”

Yes. In a shared Space you can see which members are online, and when cursor sharing is on, other members’ cursor positions appear on your screen in real time. You can see right away which resource a colleague is looking at, so you can talk through the same resources without sharing your screen.

Cursor sharing has two settings you can turn on and off separately: Share my cursor with members and Show members’ cursors. Adjust them to suit your work, for example by seeing other members’ cursors without showing your own.

Can I see everything I’ve shared in one place?

Section titled “Can I see everything I’ve shared in one place?”

Yes. Under Shared items in Reports, you can check Items shared to the web, shared by you, shared with you, and shared with guests, each separately. You can review shared Items scattered across many Spaces and Clusters in one place, which is handy for cleaning up sharing you no longer need.

Items other people have shared with you all appear in Shared inbox. Shared Items are managed as shortcuts, so you can paste them into as many locations as you like and organize them alongside your own resources.

Every Item in Stelllink automatically gets its own short link and QR code. Select an Item in Space Browser to see its short link just below the title in the preview panel, and click it to copy.

In Customize Stelllink, you can change the short link’s ID to anything you like, or set an expiration date so it can’t be opened after a certain time. The maximum number of customizations depends on your plan. For more details, see the Short Links page.

Yes. Every Item comes with a QR code alongside its short link. Switch the preview to the QR code from the top right of the preview panel, and save the QR code as a PNG or SVG image with the save button in the bottom left.

In Customize QR Code, you can style the center logo, frame and text, pattern and corner shapes, and colors and gradients however you like. Some style combinations can make a QR code harder to scan, so be sure to test that it scans well before applying it.

Section titled “Can I see how people respond to links I’ve shared?”

Yes. Turn on Link Tracker in Tracker preferences to see traffic, locations, referrers, devices, and bot visits that came through an Item’s short link and QR code. It also shows whether visitors came through the short link or the QR code, and you can pick any period from today and the last 90 days to all time.

In Chart view, you can combine data from several Items to compare them in a chart. Link Tracker only collects data while it’s turned on, and the number of Items you can track and how far back you can view data may vary by plan.

Web Clipper is a Stelllink extension you install in the web browser you already use. It keeps your familiar browsing setup while letting you save the page you’re viewing to Stelllink and create a short link for sharing, all without leaving the tab.

When you open Web Clipper, the address of the tab you’re viewing is filled in automatically, so click Create, check where to save it, and click Create and copy link to save the page and copy the link at once. To learn how to organize saved links into folders or pin them to your favorites, see the Using Web Clipper page.

Web Clipper works in web browsers on your computer. You can install it in browsers that support Chrome Web Store extensions, such as Chrome, Edge, Opera, and Samsung Internet, and in browsers that support Firefox Add-ons extensions, such as Firefox.

After installing, click the Web Clipper icon in your browser toolbar to open it. If you’re signed in to Stelllink web in the same browser, you can use it right away without signing in again. You’ll find the store links on the Using Web Clipper page.

Where can I find Items saved with Web Clipper?

Section titled “Where can I find Items saved with Web Clipper?”

Links and folders you save with Web Clipper are gathered in the Web Clipper Cluster in the Stelllink app. Anything you save, edit, or delete in Web Clipper shows up right away in the open app, and you can search for it alongside your other resources with Path Finder.

Drag Items from Web Clipper in the app to another Cluster to move them as regular folders and Web-Links you can use with your team. You can also move Items from a Cluster into Web Clipper to have them right at hand in your browser. Web-Links are moved as is, while folders, files, and pages are copied as Web-Links and the originals stay in place. Items moved into Web Clipper are no longer shared to the web or with guests.

Does Web Clipper collect my browsing history?

Section titled “Does Web Clipper collect my browsing history?”

No. Web Clipper runs only when you open it by clicking its icon in the toolbar, and it doesn’t track your browsing history in the background or read and collect page content.

The only information sent to your Stelllink account is the address and title of the tab you’re viewing, or an address you enter and that page’s title. Web Clipper uses only what’s needed for the link you’re saving, so you can use it with peace of mind.

Get familiar with the Space, Cluster, and Item structure, along with drag & drop, pasting with Ctrl + VCmd + V, and Path Finder, and you’ll settle in quickly. Follow the Getting Started guide and begin step by step with the flow of saving resources and finding them again.

In the app, open Tips from the menu to see step-by-step guides for features such as sharing, short links and QR codes, and Link Tracker. Whenever you’re curious about a feature, check the tips together with this help center.

Click Feedback in the app menu, or the feedback button on the screen, to send us your thoughts at any time. Choose from Review, Bug report, or Other feedback, and attach screenshots of any screen where something went wrong.

Check the progress of your feedback, such as Received, In progress, or Resolved, in My feedback. We review your feedback quickly and reply, and every message helps us make Stelllink better.
